Synopsis:

Ten years ago, the kingdom of Jasad burned. Its magic outlawed; its royal family murdered down to the last child. At least, that’s what Sylvia wants people to believe.

The lost Heir of Jasad, Sylvia never wants to be found. She can’t think about how Nizahl’s armies laid waste to her kingdom and continue to hunt its people—not if she wants to stay alive. But when Arin, the Nizahl Heir, tracks a group of Jasadi rebels to her village, staying one step ahead of death gets trickier.

In a moment of anger Sylvia’s magic is exposed, capturing Arin’s attention. Now, to save her life, Sylvia will have to make a deal with her greatest enemy. If she helps him lure the rebels, she’ll escape persecution.

A deadly game begins. Sylvia can’t let Arin discover her identity even as hatred shifts into something more. Soon, Sylvia will have to choose between the life she wants and the one she left behind. The scorched kingdom is rising, and it needs a queen.

review:

 Hey book besties!

Today, I'm excited to share with you a review of the book "Jasad Heir" by Sara Hashem. It was my first read this year, and I can't wait to tell you all about it.

"Jasad Heir" is a fantasy novel inspired by Egyptian mythology, and as an Egyptian myself, I was immediately drawn to the premise. The idea of seeing Egyptian myths transformed into a fantasy book was incredibly intriguing to me. What's more, the fact that the book is written by a Muslim Egyptian author added an extra layer of significance for me.

At first, I have to admit, I was a bit confused about what was going on in the story. The world-building and mythology were unfamiliar to me, and it took some time for everything to click into place. However, as I continued reading, the pieces started to fall into place, and I found myself completely engrossed in the rich tapestry of this fantastical world.

The characters were well-developed and relatable, and I found myself rooting for them throughout their journey. The intricate web of relationships and the dynamics between the characters added depth to the story, making it all the more compelling.

However, just when I thought I had everything figured out, the book ended on a frustrating cliffhanger! I won't give anything away, but let's just say that I am eagerly anticipating the release of the next book in the series. I need to know what happens next!

In conclusion, "Jasad Heir" is a captivating and immersive read that seamlessly weaves together Egyptian mythology and fantasy elements. Sara Hashem's storytelling is both evocative and enchanting, and I thoroughly enjoyed delving into this magical world.

If you're a fan of fantasy novels that draw inspiration from rich cultural traditions, then "Jasad Heir" is definitely worth adding to your reading list.
